New funding directory for historic buildings lauched

The DoE Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) has joined forces with the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society (UAHS) to launch a new edition of the Directory of Funds for Historic Buildings in Northern Ireland.

Speaking at the recently rescued Old Belmont School in Belfast, EHS Chief Executive, Richard Rogers, said the Directory was published in response to one of the main questions asked by owners of Buildings at Risk - 'Where can we get funding to help with our projects?'

“The updated advice and information contained in this revised publication, will be a valuable tool for all those exploring funding opportunities in order to protect and conserve our vulnerable built heritage,” Mr Rogers said today.

Over the last seven years, the EHS has funded UAHS in various research and publication tasks.

Mr Rogers concluded: "Partnerships with voluntary organisations are vital. EHS and UAHS have worked together in partnership for many years and the publication of this, and indeed other updated Directories under this agreement, is another positive step which will assist owners in the repair and maintenance of buildings of special architectural or historical interest."
