Man found with bullet wound to head

A man has been found with a bullet wound to his head in Co Londonderry this morning.

He was found lying at the roadside in Woodburn Park in the Waterside area of Londonderry at around 7.30am and was immediately taken to Altnagelvin Hospital where his condition has been described as "critical".

Police have launched an investigation into incident and said they are treating the attack as attempted murder.

Forensic scientists are at the scene of the crime which has been cordoned off between Silverbirch Crescent and Kilfennan Link Road.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area from about 6.30am to contact them.

Two Men Charged Over Kidnapping In L'Derry
Two men have been charged over a kidnapping in Co L'Derry. The charges are in relation to an incident on Thursday, 26 October, in which a man was pulled into a vehicle in the Westway area. He was later found safe and well. The suspects, aged 31 and 33, are due to appear before Londonderry Magistrates' court today, 30 October.

Woman's Body Found In L'Derry
The body of a 19-year-old woman has been found in Londonderry, police have said. She was discovered at Cromore Gardens in the Creggan area of the city at around 2am on Thursday. A man, 21, has been arrested by detectives. No further details are available at present.

Co Antrim Man Found Dead In Ibiza Sustained Head Injuries
A County Antrim man found dead in a hotel room in Ibiza sustained head injuries, according to Ireland's expert State Pathologist. Alan Drennan, 21, was found dead just 24 hours after arriving in Ibiza. Mr Drennan was detained by Spanish police when he arrived on the holiday island, and friends claim that he was attacked by the police.

Derry police station sprayed with gunfire
Strand Road police station in Derry city centre has come under attack this morning from a gunman who sprayed the building with automatic gunfire. No one was injured in the attack but several vehicles were damaged. A lone gunman opened fire with what police believe was an assault rifle from the junction of Queen Street and Asylum Road.
