Pipe bomb thrown through bedroom window

A suspect device has been found in an upstairs bedroom of a house in east Belfast on Thursday.

Army Technical Officers were tasked to the Florida Drive area of the city to remove the device for examination.

Detectives confirmed that the device was a pipe bomb which is thought to have been thrown through an upstairs window into the room but failed to ignite.

Police have yet to establish a motive for the incident and have appealed for anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area on Thursday evening to come forward.

Suspicious Device Found In Antrim
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspicious device found in Co Antrim in the early hours of Thursday morning. Bomb disposal experts launched the security operation after the package was discovered at around 2am in a small wooded area on the Shore Road.

'Viable Device' Found In Newtownabbey
A 'viable device' has been found in Newtownabbey in the midst of a security alert. The device was discovered in the Cherrylands/Cloughfern area shortly after 06:00 this morning. The area was cordoned off as army bomb experts examined the device and carried out a controlled explosion.

Family escape injury in gun attack
A family have escaped injury after a number of gun shots were fired into their home in Bangor early this morning. The man, woman and two teenage boys were asleep upstairs when shots were fired through the living room window at around 4am. Shortly before the attack a device exploded at a nearby phone box. No one was injured.

Two Men Arrested After Arson Attack In Co Down
Two men have been arrested in connection with an arson attack at a house in Banbridge, Co Down. The fire happened at a house in the Golf Terrace area just after 10pm on Thursday, 10 August. It is thought the fire started in an upstairs bedroom. No one was in the property at the time.
