Belfast prepares for National Lottery film screenings
Belfast will be joining in the National Lottery’s 10th birthday celebrations this Sunday by launching a week of free cinema screenings throughout the province.
The Cinemobile, Ireland’s unique mobile cinema, which is part-funded by the Lottery, will be parked outside Belfast City Hall on Sunday 19 September, giving the general public the chance to watch one of Northern Ireland’s own movies free-of-charge.
The schedule for the day will consist of a morning, afternoon and an evening screening of National Lottery funded Northern Irish films, each aimed at a different audience. Films include 'The Honeymooners' and 'Freeze Frame', and the morning session, which is aimed at a younger audience, will round off with animation and makeup workshops.
Following this, from Monday through to Friday, the Cinemobile will tour Northern Ireland also offering the new Disney movie 'Home On The Range' to the general public throughout the country in Castlewellan, Crossmaglen, Draperstown, Ballygawley, and Lisnaskea.
The Touring Cinema is one of a number of events taking place to celebrate the 10th year of the National Lottery and highlight the impact it has had on the lives of people in Northern Ireland. Since it began almost £500 million National Lottery money has been awarded to good causes in Northern Ireland alone.
The events, which include fun days, open days, walks, a circus skills competition and a cycle, will culminate in the first ever National Lottery Day, Saturday 6 November, when special celebrations will take place simultaneously in Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow and London.

The Space and Place programme, launched today, will aim to unite communities in Northern Ireland through improving the community environment, according to the Fund. The Fund is the largest distributor of National Lottery funding.

Lottery boost for NI community and voluntary groups
A vital scheme to combat anti-social behaviour in a Bangor housing estate and a project to help care for people living with cancer have bee awarded grants from the Big Lottery Fund today. Ten projects across Northern Ireland will share in a £806,306 grants roll-out from the Fund’s Voluntary and Community Sector programme.
