Girl, 11, chased in west Belfast by armed man

Police in west Belfast are appealing for information after an 11-year-old girl was chased in Colinglen Forest Park by a man wielding a knife

The incident occurred at around 8.30pm last night, a short time after the girl had become separated from her friends.

As she passed close to the park's river, a man, dressed in black, wearing a balaclava and armed with a kitchen knife, shouted at her. He gave chase from the opposite side of the river but lost his footing. The girl fled and later reported the incident to her parents.

Police investigating the incident are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Woodbourne on 028 9065 0222 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Attempted abduction in County Down
Police in County Down have appealed for information following the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl yesterday evening. The incident happened in the Hill Street area of Ardglass at around 8pm, when a man in a small white coloured five-door car, stopped beside the child and offered her a lift.
