Community views sought over funding for deprived areas

The NIO has today urged community groups to put forward their ideas on how best to use regeneration funding.

Under Phase II of the Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy - which tackles multiple deprivation in the most deprived urban areas - funding will be available in 32 areas designated as being in the greatest need of support and community regeneration.

Phase II funding, which became available from September 1, can be accessed under a number of categories and, depending on uptake, will allow community organisations serving the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas to initiate community regeneration projects.

The department will consider providing assistance to allow the implementation of appropriate ideas subject to assessment and availability of funds.

More information on how to access funding is available from the Belfast Regeneration Office, Regional Development Office and the North West Development Office. Information is also available from the DSD website at www.dsdni.gov.uk
