Sanchez eyes tactical changes for Wales game

The Northern Ireland squad has arrived in Cardiff ahead of Wednesday night's World Cup qualifier against Wales.

Lawrie Sanchez's men know anything less than a draw at the Millennium Stadium will mean the end of their hopes of qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at home to Poland.

A number of changes are expected for tomorrow night's game with the possibility that Northern Ireland could change to a 3-5-2 formation with Hibernian's Colin Murdock coming in at centre-half alongside Aaron Hughes and Mark Williams.

That would leave Tony Capaldi, Steve Jones, Keith Gillespie and George McCartney, who returns from suspension, vying for the two wide berth roles.

In the centre could see Damian Johnson alongside Michael Hughes and Jeff Whitley while up front James Quinn should play alongside record goal scorer David Healy.
