Sanchez to ring NI changes

Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez looks set to ring the changes ahead of his side's clash with Wales on Wednesday.

Following the 3-0 defeat to Poland on Saturday, the former Wycombe boss is likely to change his defensive unit against Mark Hughes' side with Aaron Hughes moving into the centre of defence in place of Steven Craigan and George McCartney or Mark Clyde coming in at right back.

In midfield Steve Jones is pushing for a starting position which could result in Damian Johnson reverting to his preferred central midfield role.

Although Saturday's result was a shock for Sanchez's men they can probably take heart from the fact that the other two fixtures in the group involving England and Wales ended draws.

However, Wednesday's game has become more important than ever with Northern Ireland needing as least a draw to keep alive their World Cup hopes, even at this early stage of qualifying.
