Glens face Swedes with confidence
Irish league side Glentoran go into tonight's second qualifying round, first leg Uefa Cup tie against Sewdish side, Elfsborg, knowing a positive result will bode well for the chance of meeting one of Europe's big guns in the first round proper.
Manager Roy Coyle will select from a fully-fit squad as his team attempt to build on last month's first leg-draw and second-leg victory over Finnish side, Allianssi, in the Glens first European victory in 23 years.
Striker Chris Morgan, who has previously played in Europe with cross-town rivals, Linfield, said the club were in upbeat mood ahead of Thursday nights game at the Oval.
"Beating Allianssi has given us a real self-belief and a lot of confidence," he said.
"I think Irish League clubs used to go into European games hoping for the best, I believe we have changed that attitude now."
Tonight's game kick's off at 7pm with the return leg in two week's time
The east Belfast side will surely take some confidence having seen League of Ireland side, Shelbourne hold Spanish side Deportiva La Coruna to a 0-0 draw in last night's Champion's League qualifier at Lansdowne Road.
Watched by a sell-out 24,000 strong crowd, the Irish champions looked the stronger side for long periods of the game and must fancy their chances of becoming the first ever Irish side the reach the group stages of the competition when the two sides meet again at Deportivo's Riazor stadium on August 24.
