Weapons uncovered in west Belfast

Police uncovered a cache of weapons during the search of a cemetery in west Belfast yesterday.

Two handguns, shotgun cartridges and other items were discovered by officers in the grounds of the cemetery at Hannahstown Hill on Wednesday afternoon.

The area was immediately cordoned off as Army Technical Officers examined the items which were subsequently removed for further examination.

Number Of 'Suspicious Items' Removed From Milltown Cemetery

It is understood that police attended the cemetery in West Belfast following reports of a "number of suspicious items". Police confirmed that officers attended and have taken a number of items away for examination. Investigations are ongoing.
