Police come under attack in Londonderry

Police in Londonderry have been attacked for the second time this week after petrol bombs and other missiles were thrown at officers by rioters in the Fountain area of the city last night.

One person was arrested following the clashes when up to 14 devices were thrown at police in the Bishop Street area of the city at around 10.30pm. Around an hour later, more devices were thrown at officers and police vehicles in Nailor's Row.

There were no reports of injuries on either side.

On Tuesday, officers came under attack when a number of devices and containers of paint were thrown at them as they attended a call in Drumcliff Avenue shortly after 6pm.

No officer was injured in the incident, however one police vehicle was slightly damaged.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Petrol Bombs And Improvised Devices Thrown At Police In L'Derry
Over 70 petrol bombs and two improvised devices were thrown at police officers in L'Derry on Thursday, 12 July. The PSNI were forced to fire plastic baton rounds in response to the trouble. Makeshift barricades were also set alight on a number of roads. Three men, aged 18, 22 and 50 were arrested.

Shot Fired At Police In Lurgan
A gunshot was fired and over 100 petrol bombs thrown at police cordons in Lurgan, Co Armagh. The incident occurred in the Lake Street area on Sunday night. A total of 25 paint bombs, bricks and other masonry were also thrown by a large crowd who gathered at around 9pm and remained until the early hours of the morning.

Blast Bomb Attack On Police Condemned
Politicians in Co Armagh have said the community is shocked at blast bomb attack on police yesterday. The device was been thrown at a police foot patrol in the Meadowbrook area of Craigavon, Co Armagh. The PSNI said officers were on routine patrol at about 10.10pm on Wednesday when the bomb was thrown.

Petrol bombs thrown into housing estate
Police are appealing for information after three petrol bombs were thrown into a Protestant housing estate in Londonderry last night. Two of the devices, which were thrown into the Fountain estate shortly before midnight on Thursday, failed to ignite and were taken away for examination by police.
