NIEA Launches Call For Evidence On Water Environment Impacts
The Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) has today (April 15th) launched an 8-week Call for Evidence to gather information on the impacts affecting Northern Ireland's water environment.
The consultation period will run from today until 8th June 2025.
The NIEA is urging all citizens, organisations, and communities to contribute any relevant information and evidence they may possess. The aim of this initiative is to enhance the evidence base available to the NIEA, thereby enabling a more precise assessment of the potential pressures and impacts on water quality across Northern Ireland. The evidence collected through this Call for Evidence will play a crucial role in the ongoing preparations for the Significant Water Management Issues consultation, which is scheduled to be issued later in 2025 or 2026. Furthermore, this information will directly inform the development of the draft 4th cycle River Basin Management Plan, a key strategic document for the future management of Northern Ireland's water resources.
Members of the public and interested parties can download further information about the Call for Evidence, including detailed guidance on how to respond and submit evidence, from the NIEA website.
