Banbridge Security Alert Ends As Suspect Device Removed

A security alert in the Lenaderg Road area of Banbridge has concluded after a suspicious object was discovered in the early hours of this morning, Monday, 14th April.

Police confirmed they received a report regarding the object at approximately 1.20am. Officers attended the scene, and Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) were tasked to examine the item.

Detective Sergeant Stewart stated: "Officers attended the scene along with Ammunition Technical Officers and the object, described as a viable pipe bomb-type device, was removed from the scene and taken away for further forensic examination."

The Lenaderg Road, which had been closed for a period, has now been reopened to the public.

Detectives are continuing with their investigation into the incident and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and we appeal to anyone with any information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 48 14/04/25," added Detective Sergeant Stewart.

Three men stabbed in Newry
Three men have been treated in hospital for ‘severe’ stab wounds following an incident at a house in Newry, Co Down on Thursday. The stabbings occurred at the house in the city's Canal Street area in the early hours of the morning. The three men have been treated in hospital however their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Stab Death Victim Named
A 38-year-old woman remains in custody today being questioned in connection with the death of Anthony Robin, 44, who was attacked and fatally stabbed in a flat in Fitzroy Avenue early this morning. Mr Robin was injured at about 3.30am on Monday and later died in hospital from his injuries.

Primary school evacuated as fire rages in factory
A primary school has been evacuated following the outbreak of a serious fire at a nearby factory in Co Londonderry on Monday. More than 60 firefighters are tackling the blaze at the SDC Trailers factory on the Deerpark Road, Castledawson, which was discovered at around 8.45am.
