Further Arrests Made Following East Belfast Serious Assault

Detectives investigating a serious assault on a man in the Paxton Street area of east Belfast on Sunday, 06 April, have made further arrests.

Detective Sergeant McCartan said: "We're continuing to investigate a serious assault on a man in the Paxton Street area of east Belfast.

"To date, a 45-year-old man has been charged to Belfast Magistrates' Court in connection with the investigation.

"A second man, aged in his 40s, who was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm has also been bailed to allow for further enquiries.

"As part of our ongoing enquiries, we arrested two men aged 32 and 37 yesterday, Tuesday 08 April, on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

"They remain in custody at this time as enquiries continue. We would continue to appeal to anyone with any information which might assist us to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting reference number 79 06/04/2025."

Arrests Follow East Belfast Assault
Three people have been arrested after a 43-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were attacked at a house in east Belfast. Two Arrests Made In Connection With Death Of Elderly Man In Dromore
A 54-year-old man has been arrested in suspicion of murder in connection with the death of an elderly man on 30 June in County Tyrone. The 84-year-old man was found dead at an address in Blackwater Road, Dromore. Police investigating the death made two arrests on Tuesday.

Four Men Arrested In Connection With Lyra McKee Murder
Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee. Ms McKee was fatally shot as she observed rioting in L'Derry in April 2019. She was 29 years old. Police investigating her death have arrested four men, aged 19, 20, 21 and 33, under the Terrorism Act.

Yet another post office has been targeted by robbers. Yesterday, Killyman PO, near Dungannon was the latest to be hit. Although no one was hurt, a trend of such rural hold-ups is emerging after other such post offices - including a mobile - have been targeted over the last week.

Three remanded on terrorism charges
Three men have been remanded in custody, following an appearance in court today in relation to arrests made during the disturbances in Carrickfergus, County Antrim at the weekend. The men are being charged with terrorism offences following the shooting of a police officer on the Castlemara Estate.
