Woman appears in court over north Belfast murder

A woman has appeared in court today, charged with the murder of a 47-year-old man in Newtownabbey last week.

Allison Michelle Martin, 31, of no fixed address, appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged with the murder of Geordie McDowell. She denies the charge.

Mr McDowell's body was found at a flat on Crossreagh Drive in the Rathcoole estate on Thursday night. A post mortem examination revealed he had died from a stab wound to the head.

Ms Martin was remanded in custody to appear again on 31 August via video link.
