Man Arrested After Crossmaglen Stabbing
A 44-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing incident in Crossmaglen on Sunday night.
Detectives received a report at approximately 9.20pm on Sunday, 30th March, that a man had been stabbed inside a licensed premises in the Concession Road area of the town.
The victim, a man in his 40s, sustained serious hand injuries and superficial wounds to his head and neck. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He is currently being held in custody. Detective Sergeant Dougherty said: "We received a report that a man had been stabbed at around 9.20pm, inside licensed premised in the Concession Road area. The man, aged in his 40s, suffered deep lacerations to his hand and a number of more superficial wounds to his head and neck. He attended hospital for treatment. Shortly afterwards a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He remains in custody at this time."
Detective Sergeant Dougherty also acknowledged the actions of those present at the scene, stating: "We know a number of people were present at the time of this shocking attack, and several of them bravely restrained the perpetrator."
Police are now appealing for those individuals, and any other witnesses, to assist with their investigation.
Detective Sergeant Dougherty added: "We would appeal to them to come forward to police to assist with our investigation. Please call us on 101, quoting reference number 1521 of 30/03/25."

A 27-year-old man has been arrested following two stabbing incidents in Belfast city centre. The injuries to both victims are not believed to be life-threatening. Inspector Donna McGrady said police were alerted at about 1.15am by a member of the public on Bedford Street to a fight going on in the area.
