Appeal Following Dangerous Driving In Dungiven
Police are appealing for information and witnesses following reports of a suspected drunk driver in Dungiven this morning, Wednesday 26 March.
Sergeant Long said that shortly after 10 am, police received a report that two men, appearing intoxicated, had been at a business in the Main Street area of the town.
The men then entered a car and drove erratically towards Toome and Castledawson. The vehicle was subsequently seen travelling on the wrong side of the main carriageway between Antrim and Ballymena, near the Lisnevenagh Road.
Police officers pursued the vehicle and successfully brought it to a stop.
Two men, one in his 20s and another in his 30s, were arrested on suspicion of several offences, including driving when unfit through drink or drugs, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop for police, and dangerous driving. They are currently in police custody.
Sergeant Long added: "Our enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle or to anyone with mobile phone or dash-cam footage to get in touch on 101, quoting reference number 429 of 26/03/25."

The PSNI have issued a fresh appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of Gary Patterson, a 45-year-old man considered to be a high-risk missing person. Gary was last seen in the Larne area on Saturday, 12 October 2024. He is described as being around 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, with black hair.

Co Tyrone Man Sentenced For Drugs Offences
A 25-year-old man from County Tyrone has been sentenced at Dungannon Crown Court, after admitting to several drug-related offences. Conor McCann was handed a four-and-a-half-year sentence, with half to be served in prison and the remainder on licence.
