Police Investigate Serious Assault On North Queen Street

Detectives in Belfast are appealing for information following a serious assault on North Queen Street on Saturday, 15 March, which left a man with significant injuries.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) launched an investigation after the man, aged in his 30s, presented at a hospital with serious wounds.

According to Detective Sergeant McVeagh, the injured party reported being attacked at approximately 8pm while walking on North Queen Street. He stated that he was accosted by two men wearing balaclavas, one of whom he believed was armed with a machete. The man reported that a struggle ensued, during which he was knocked unconscious.

The victim sustained deep lacerations to his leg and face, as well as a head injury.

Detective Sergeant McVeagh condemned the attack: "It's shocking that an attack of this seriousness could take place in a busy area, and we know that someone must have seen the assault take place or suspicious behaviour around that time."

The PSNI is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist with their enquiries to come forward.

"We would appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1603 of 15/03/25," added Detective Sergeant McVeagh.
