City Hall To Host Annual Spring Safety Event

Belfast residents are invited to enhance their safety knowledge at the free Spring Safety event, returning to Belfast City Hall on Friday, 07 March.

Organised by the Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), the annual roadshow provides one-on-one advice on various home and online safety issues. The event, in partnership with Belfast City Council, is supported by over 30 local organisations, including the PSNI and the NI Fire and Rescue Service.

With Action Fraud reporting nearly £19 million lost to fraud in Northern Ireland in 2024, the event aims to combat the rise in scams by equipping residents with protective tips and tools. Technology specialists Ignite IT will offer free cyber security checks on phones and tablets, while the Consumer Council will provide guidance on safe shopping and payment methods. The Belfast Health Trust will also be present, providing information on breast screening and other health checks.

Councillor Davy Douglas, Chair of the East Belfast PCSP, said: "The Belfast PCSP are pleased to work alongside so many of our partner organisations to deliver an event that offers vital safety information to residents. With fraud and scams on the rise, this event is a practical way for residents to stay informed and protect themselves and their families in their everyday lives. We would encourage everyone to drop-in and avail of this free advice service so we can create a safer community across Belfast."

The free Spring Safety event will run from 10am to 12.30pm in the Great Hall of Belfast City Hall. It's a drop-in event with no need to book. Complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided. Find out more from the Belfast City Council website at www.belfastcity.gov.uk/Events/Spring-Safety-event.
