London Arrest Linked To County Down Fraud Investigation

A woman in her 40s has been arrested in London today, Monday, 03 March, as part of a Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) investigation into fraud.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and money laundering. The arrest followed a search of a residential property in London, conducted by PSNI Economic Crime Unit detectives with assistance from City of London Police officers.

Simultaneously, PSNI Economic Crime Unit officers executed a house search in Waringstown, County Down, as part of the same investigation. The Waringstown search, supported by Cyber Crime and Tactical Support Group officers, resulted in the seizure of documentation and electronic equipment for further examination.

Detective Chief Inspector Uel Boyd from the Economic Crime Unit stated: "Today's searches are part of our ongoing efforts to tackle and disrupt illegal activities, such as fraud and money laundering. Fraudsters have one aim only, and that's to line their own pockets. Sadly, this always comes at the expense of others."

He highlighted the collaborative effort between PSNI specialist departments and the City of London Police, and emphasised the importance of community support. "I'm keen to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone with information or concerns to contact us on 101," Detective Chief Inspector Boyd concluded.
