Harvey Milk's Nephew In Belfast For LGBT+ History Month

Human rights activist Stuart Milk, nephew of the late Harvey Milk, has arrived in Belfast for a four-day series of events during LGBT+ History Month. He is a special guest of Belfast's Lord Mayor, Councillor Micky Murray.

Milk has dedicated his life to continuing his uncle's legacy, working with LGBTQIA+ organisations globally and advocating for diversity, equality, and inclusion.

"Harvey Milk is an iconic figure in civil rights history, not just for the LGBTQIA+ community, but for everyone – and Stuart has been central to ensuring Harvey's message lives on," said Councillor Murray.

During his visit, Milk will meet with students from Belfast Met and pupils from Lagan College, Hazelwood College, and St Louise's College. He will share stories of his uncle's life and discuss the Harvey Milk Foundation's work to combat hate and discrimination.

On Saturday, he will join a walking tour of the city with HERe NI representatives, followed by a free talk for young people at City Hall, co-hosted with Politics in Action. He will also deliver the keynote address at a dinner at City Hall on Saturday evening, celebrating the Lord Mayor's year in office. On Sunday, he will visit the Green House on Victoria Street.

His visit concludes with a screening of the Oscar-winning documentary "The Times of Harvey Milk" at QFT Belfast, followed by a Q&A session.

"I'm looking forward to showing Stuart how far we have come on our own journey to building a shared, more diverse city, and to showcasing some of the amazing work of our LGBTQIA+ community here in Belfast," added Councillor Murray.
