Two Charged Following Assaults On Police In L'Derry

Two people have been charged with a number of offences, including assault on police, following two separate incidents in L'Derry during the early hours of Wednesday, 19 February. A total of seven officers were injured in the incidents.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with three counts of assault on police and one count of disorderly behaviour following an incident in the Waterside area. He is due to appear before Londonderry Magistrates' Court on 12 March.

In a separate incident in the Cityside area, a 33-year-old woman has been charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of assault on police, and criminal damage. She is scheduled to appear before the court tomorrow, Thursday, 20 February.

As is standard procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Investigation Launched After Two Sexual Assaults At Park In L'Derry
Police have launched an investigation after two alleged sexual assaults on teenage girls at a park in L'Derry. The separate attacks happened at St Columb's Park last weekend and the PSNI believe there is no link between the incidents. A 20-year-old man arrested following a suspected rape on Sunday has been released on bail.

Lawyer considers client's 'overexposure'
The lawyer of a senior north Belfast loyalist has warned that he may report the Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde, and an unnamed Sunday newspaper editor to the Attorney General for over exposure of his client. Ihab Shoukri, from Alliance Road, was today remanded on continuing bail charged two counts of being a member of the UDA/UFF.

Police appeal after violent assaults
A 49-year-old man has been assaulted by a number of men at his home in Lisburn in the early hours of this morning. At around 12.50am three masked men forced their way into the Manor Park home of the victim and assaulted him with baseball bats as he lay in bed.

Murder Charge Follows Omagh Stabbing
A woman has been charged with the murder of a 37-year-old man in Co Tyrone. The victim was stabbed in a flat on Hospital Road in the Omagh shortly after 3am on Monday. The 36-year-old woman is due to appear at Strabane Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
