ASCERT Offers Workplace Alcohol Awareness Programme

As part of its commitment to promoting employee wellbeing, ASCERT, the leading local alcohol and drugs charity in Northern Ireland, is offering "Rethink Your Drink" awareness sessions for workplaces.

These sessions are designed to educate employees about the potential health impacts of alcohol consumption, including its effects on physical and mental health, productivity, and workplace safety.

"Research from the Institute of Alcohol Studies (2019) and the Chartered Institute of Professional Development (2020) highlights a concerning trend: 42% of workers admit to having attended work hungover or under the influence of alcohol at least once," said a spokesperson for ASCERT. "This not only affects individual performance but also has a wider impact on team dynamics, workplace safety and overall business efficiency."

The "Rethink Your Drink" sessions cover topics such as recommended alcohol consumption guidelines, the short- and long-term effects of alcohol on the body, the impact of alcohol on mental health, and practical steps to reduce alcohol intake.

"Our sessions are designed to be informative yet non-judgemental," said the spokesperson. "We encourage participation and questions, ensuring that attendees feel comfortable discussing their thoughts and experiences."

ASCERT offers both online and in-person sessions to cater to the needs of different workplaces.

"Creating a healthier workplace starts with education and awareness," said the spokesperson. "Our 'Rethink Your Drink' sessions provide the perfect opportunity to start the conversation about alcohol consumption and its impact."
