Man Injured In East Belfast Assault
Police are investigating an assault in east Belfast that occurred on Wednesday evening, February 12th, followed by a fire at the same address early the following morning.
Shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, police received a report that five masked men armed with hammers had broken into a flat in the Templemore Street area and assaulted a man inside.
The victim sustained injuries to his head and body and was taken to hospital for treatment. At approximately 5:35am on Thursday morning, police received a report that a motorcycle had been set alight in a communal hallway at the same address.
"Colleagues from Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Services attended and extinguished the fire, luckily no one was injured," said Detective Sergeant McCartan. "We are treating both incidents as linked and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or to anyone with CCTV, doorbell or other footage that could assist with enquiries to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1601 12/02/24."
Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Guns stolen in Co Antrim assault
Police are appealing for information after a gang assaulted a man and stole his guns in Co Antrim. The masked men forced their way into the man's home in Burnbrae in Bushmills at around 1.30am on Tuesday morning. They hit the man before tying his hands behind his back and escaping with three guns.
