Health Minister Visits New Cancer Support Centre In Enniskillen

Health Minister Mike Nesbitt has visited the site of the new Cancer Focus Northern Ireland Support Centre in Enniskillen, ahead of its scheduled opening this spring.

The centre, funded in part by a £418,624 grant from the Department of Health, will provide a range of nurse-led support services to individuals and families affected by cancer.

"My biggest ambition as Health Minister is to bring healthcare closer to people’s homes and communities," said Minister Nesbitt. "The development of this centre is a vital step forward in improving cancer care and support services, and I am delighted to see the progress being made."

The centre will offer a calm and welcoming environment for individuals and their families, providing a space for relaxation, reflection, and emotional support.

"We are delighted to welcome the Health Minister to our new centre and to share our vision for supporting people facing cancer in Enniskillen and beyond," said Richard Spratt, Chief Executive of Cancer Focus NI. "Our goal is to create a safe and supportive sanctuary where individuals can find comfort, practical assistance, and emotional support during what is often a very difficult time in their lives."

The Enniskillen centre will be the first in a proposed network of regional cancer support facilities to be developed by Cancer Focus NI across Northern Ireland.
