Man Stabbed In Serious Assault In East Belfast

Detectives are investigating a serious assault in east Belfast which occurred in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 23rd January.

Police received a report at approximately 2.30am that two men had been attacked in the Templemore Avenue area.

A man aged in his 50s sustained a serious stab wound to the neck and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. A second man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police attended the scene, including officers from the ARV and Dog Unit, and conducted an extensive search of the area for the suspects. However, no arrests have yet been made.

Detective Sergeant Alexander said: "Police received a report at approximately 2.30am this morning, Thursday 23rd January, that two men had been attacked in the Templemore Avenue area.

"An altercation occurred, and a man aged in his 50s was allegedly stabbed in his neck – sustaining a serious injury.

"He required hospital treatment, and remains in a serious, but stable condition. A second man reported non-life-threatening injuries.

"Police attended the scene including officers from our ARV and Dog Unit - and extensively searched the area for the two suspects. However, they were not located.

"Our enquiries are continuing today, and the Templemore Avenue area has now fully reopened."

Man Stabbed In West Belfast
A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in west Belfast. The attack happened in the Hawthorn Street area at around 1.40pm on Thursday. The victim is believed to be in his 30s. A section of Hawthorn Street was closed and police examined the area. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
