£75,000 Seized In Newry As Two Men Arrested

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Organised Crime Unit seized a large sum of money during a vehicle stop in Newry today, Monday 13th January.

Following a proactive policing operation, officers stopped a vehicle in the Belfast Road area. With the assistance of colleagues from the Roads Policing Unit, a search of the vehicle was conducted, resulting in the recovery of approximately £75,000 in cash. The seized funds have been taken away for further forensic examination.

Two men, aged 49 and 42, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing criminal property. Both men remain in police custody at this time.

Detective Sergeant Tracey said: "We are committed to disrupting the activities of criminals and would encourage anyone who has any information about criminal activity to contact police on the non-emergency number 101 with any information they have. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

Man Arrested In Portadown On German Warrant
A 38-year-old man has been arrested in Portadown by officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's International Policing Unit, working in conjunction with the Mahon Road Neighbourhood Policing Team. The man is wanted in Germany to face trial on charges of rape and sexual assault against a child.

Woman Fined Over Possession Of Illegal Weight Loss Medicine
A 33-year-old Co Tyrone woman has been fined £3,300 (plus offender levy) for breaches of the Human Medicines Regulations. Shaunagh McElroy, of Fardross Road, Clogher, appeared at Dungannon Magistrates' Court on 13 January, where she pleaded guilty to 18 charges.

Police Respond To Almost 1,300 Domestic Abuse Calls
