Newtownabbey Shooting Victim Was Off-Duty Police Officer

The PSNI has confirmed that a man injured in a shooting incident in Newtownabbey on Monday 06 January was an off-duty police officer.

The incident occurred in the Beverley Road area at around 9:30 pm. The man, who has not been named, remains in hospital. However his injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson said: "While our investigation is at an early stage, we do not believe this is a terrorism related incident.

"A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and he remains in police custody at this time.

"We will continue to liaise with other key stakeholders, including the Police Federation.

"As our investigation progresses I would appeal to anyone with any information, who was in the area around the time of the shooting, or with doorbell or dashcam footage, to contact Police on 101 and quote reference 1699 06/01/25."

Man Arrested Over Paramilitary-Style Shooting In L'Derry
A man has been arrested in connection with a paramilitary-style shooting in Co L'Derry. A 33-year-old man was shot in the legs and abdomen in the Lisfannon Park area on Tuesday, 08 August. Police described the assault as "brutal and horrific". The 43-year-old suspect was detained in L'Derry on Tuesday, 15 August.

Man Hospitalised Following Shooting In Newtownabbey
Police are currently at the scene of a shooting in the Beverley Road area of Newtownabbey. One man has been taken to hospital following the incident. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of offences including attempted murder and remains in custody at this time.

PSNI Appeal For Information About West Belfast Shooting
The PSNI have appeal for witnesses to or any one with any information about a shooting incident in west Belfast on Wednesday night. A man was shot in the leg at Creeslough Gardens at around 21:30 on Wednesday night. It is understood that victim is in his 40s and his injuries are not life threatening.
