Officers hurt in road collision

Police are appealing for information after a police landrover was struck by a stolen jeep in Dunmurry on Sunday.

Three police officers were injured in the collision which occurred on the Bell Steele Road at around 2.15pm.

The Grand Cherokee jeep, which had been stolen from a house in Lambeg earlier that morning, was travelling up the wrong side of the Bell Steele Road when it struck the landrover.

The vehicle then continued on up the road, before its two occupants abandoned the vehicle shortly before it ended up in a ditch close to the nearby Stewartstown Road.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Woman Killed In Co Armagh Road Collision
A woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Portadown, Co Armagh. The woman was hit by a car as she was walking on the side of the Moy Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. The road was closed for a short time but it has been reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
