Three More Arrested After Police Pursuit And Ramming In Kilrea

Police have arrested five men in connection with a dangerous incident in Kilrea on the afternoon of Wednesday, 27 November.

Officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a shop on Mill Road, where a vehicle was used to ram the building. A woman was also assaulted during the incident.

A black Vauxhall Astra then fled the scene, leading to a police pursuit. During the pursuit, the Astra collided with two police vehicles, injuring three officers who required hospital treatment.

Two men, aged 31 and 38, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of various offences, including drug-related crimes and driving offences.

Three further men – two aged 27 and one aged 37 – were arrested on Thursday in the Kilrea area on suspicion of drug-related offences, criminal damage, and vehicle tampering.

The five men remain in police custody as investigations continue.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1104 27/11/24.

Two Arrested In Connection With Dissident Republican Activity Released
Two men arrested in connection with dissident republican activity have been released. The pair, aged 31 and 22, were arrested in Co L'Derry on Thursday, 31 March. They were questioned at a police station in Belfast. The pair were released unconditionally.
