Police Recover Suspected Firearm In Strabane
Police recovered a suspected firearm yesterday during a search outside Strabane town in County Tyrone.
Detectives from the Police Service's Terrorism Investigation Unit, who are investigating the activities of the New IRA, made the discovery.
The suspected firearm will now be forensically tested while enquiries continue.
The Police has encourage anyone with information, or concerns, to contact 101 or report online.
Department for Communities launches Employment Support Scheme consultation
A public consultation, which will span 12 weeks, on funding for the Employment Support Scheme has been launched by the Department for Communities.
The Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) sets out the Department's consideration to cease funding the Scheme which commenced in 1981 and closed to new entrants in 2006. The 'Employment Support Scheme Cessation of Funding' consultation can be located on the DfC website.
The Department welcomes comment on any aspects of the document.
Responses are sought by online survey, email or post and should be received by 16 February 2025.
Appeal For Information Following Warrenpoint Burglary
Police is appealing for information after a sum of money and jewellery were stolen during a burglary at a house in Warrenpoint.
Detectives in Newry CID are investigating the incident which took place at Mourne Drive on Sunday, November 25.
Entry was gained to the property via a rear window sometime between 3pm and midnight.
Police would like to hear from anyone with information that could assist their enquiries and would also like to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area of Mourne Drive, Ardallen Park, Lisieaux Park and Burren Road junction with Lisieaux Park.
Information can be given by calling 101 and quoting reference 17 25/11/24.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

The officer was given an adult caution after he was found to have punched a man in the face during an argument at a bar in Belfast city centre in August 2014.

Thirty nine police officers have been internally investigated for alleged sexual misconduct in the last five years, according to information released by the PSNI The information, released under a Freedom of Information request, revealed that four complaints have been upheld, with two officers being dismissed.
