Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast

Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast.

Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

The man was taken to hospital, where he died on Sunday, 17 November.

Inspector Cherith Adair from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Collision Investigation Unit said: "Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who was using this bus service at the time or in the Royal Avenue area at around 11:15am on Friday 8th November, and who may be able to assist with our enquiries, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 615 08/11/24."

A university student has praised a Belfast bus driver as he took the time to buy and deliver a new coat to a homeless man. Anna Marie McDaniel wrote to Translink via a Facebook post on Tuesday night which read: "On the bus home from university there, absolutely miserable wet and cold night.

Belfast City Centre Bus Lane Scheme Criticised
The SDLP said it is "seriously concerned" after a city centre bus lane scheme in Belfast has left motorists confused. In Great Victoria street, one signpost contains two signs which have led to confusion, however motorists are still being fined.
