Appeal For Information Following L'Derry Security Alert

The PSNI has announced that a security alert in the Limewood Street area of L'Derry has now ended, following the removal of a viable suspected pipe bomb.

The alert began at around 7.30pm on Monday, 04 November, when an object was thrown at a house in the area. Officers attended and observed the remnants of what they believed to have been a pipe bomb device and alerted Army Technical Officers. The object, which has been declared as a viable suspected pipe bomb, has been removed and taken away for further forensic examination.

Detective Sergeant Mark Gingell said: "It is believed that this device was put through the window of the house and has exploded. This has caused damage to the property but could have led to the occupants being badly injured or even killed.

"We are appealing to anyone with information regarding this crime, and anyone who may have captured any footage in the area on Monday evening to contact detectives at Strand Road on 101, quoting reference 1516 of 04/11/24."

Residents Evacuated In North Belfast Alert
Residents have been forced to evacuate their homes in north Belfast following a report of a suspicious object in the area. The homes in Clifton Crescent were evacuated after the report of an object in the area on Monday afternoon. An army bomb squad has been tasked to the scene and the area has been closed to traffic.

Security Alert Underway In Belfast
A security alert is currently underway in Belfast. It is understood there have been reports of a suspicious object found in the Tates Avenue area of the city. As a result, the road has been closed between Boucher Road roundabout and Lorne Street. Police and army bomb experts are in attendance at the scene. No other details have been released.

Viable Device Found In Co Tyrone
A viable device has been found following a security alert near Strabane, County Tyrone. A device was found on Ballyheather Road on Tuesday. The road has now been re-opened between the junctions of the Lisdivin Road and Clogher Road. Police and army bomb experts attended the scene.

County Down Security Alert Declared A Hoax
A security alert in Ballynahinch, County Down, has been declared a hoax. Police and Army bomb experts were called to the Riverview Heights area following reports of a suspicious object at around 8pm on Thursday 24 January. A number of homes were evacuated while the object was examined.

Security Alert Ends In West Belfast
A security alert in west Belfast has ended after nothing untoward was found. Army bomb experts were called to St Mary's Gardens in the Beechmount area around 9.30pm on Thursday night to examine a car. Some 100 homes were evacuated during the alert, with residents being moved to a nearby community centre.
