Police Seize Vehicles in L'Derry Road Safety Operation
Police in L'Derry seized a number of vehicles during a recent road safety operation. The operation, conducted on September 21st and 22nd, involved officers from Foyleside and The Moor Neighbourhoods, working in collaboration with the Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) and Tactical Group Support.
During the operation, police inspected numerous vehicles, identifying a number of safety violations. Several vehicles were found to have tires below the legal limit, and one vehicle's modified suspension malfunctioned during inspection. In total, 14 vehicles were seized, and a number were issued prohibition notices. Additionally, police issued fixed penalty notices to several motorists and referred three cases to the Public Prosecution Service. Furthermore, three vehicles operating illegally as taxis were also seized.
The operation highlighted the importance of road safety and the need for motorists to ensure their vehicles are in good condition.
Sergeant Stewart said: "This road safety operation demonstrated the condition of some vehicles using our roads. We are committed to keeping our roads safe and that includes ensuring vehicles are roadworthy. We will continue, along with partner agencies, to do all we can to make sure every vehicle on our roads safe, and is driven by an insured, licensed driver."

Warning signs are to be installed across west Belfast to warn against the use of off-road vehicles being used in parks and public spaces. Police will also patrol hotspot areas to disrupt the dangerous, illegal activity and identify the people involved. The scheme has been launched by the West Belfast DPCSP and the PSNI.
