Man Arrested Following L'Derry Stabbing Incident

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in the Foyle Street area of L'Derry on Sunday, 13 October.

The incident took place shortly after 1:40 AM when a 27-year-old man was stabbed multiple times inside a local shop. He sustained injuries to his left shoulder and lower back, which were not deemed life-threatening. The assailant fled the scene on foot towards the Shipquay Street area.

Following an investigation, police arrested the 24-year-old suspect on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, and theft. He is currently in police custody.

Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, the incident is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime.
