Man Arrested Following Indecent Behaviour Outside School
A 33-year-old man has been arrested following reports of indecent behaviour outside a school in south Belfast.
Police received multiple reports of a man parked in a car outside a school in the Marlborough Park North area. It is alleged that as pupils walked past his vehicle, he exposed himself to them.
Officers responded to the area promptly on Friday, October 11th, and quickly identified and arrested the suspect. He was taken into custody on suspicion of committing an act outraging public decency and indecent exposure.
The man remains in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities have been in contact with the affected school and are providing ongoing support. South Belfast Neighbourhood Policing Inspector, Róisín Brown said: "I want to reassure the public that we treat reports of this behaviour with the utmost importance, and will continue to relentlessly pursue such offenders in line with our VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy).
"We fully understand how distressing and upsetting this would have been for the affected school children and appropriate safeguarding protocols have been implemented.
"Our officers will continue to work closely with the affected school and the Education Authority.
"Anyone with information about what happened or who may have CCTV, dash-cam or mobile footage that could help is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 283 11/10/24."
