Police Investigate Home Invasion Incidents In Newry

Local police are investigating two home invasion incidents that occurred in the Newry area on Saturday, 05 October. In both cases, a male suspect entered the homes of older residents under the guise of offering gutter cleaning services.

The first incident took place around 11:00am in Loanda Crescent. A resident was approached by the suspect at her front door but refused his services. However, the suspect was later discovered to have entered the property through a rear door. The resident was able to scare him away.

The second incident occurred shortly before noon in Ardgreen Drive. The suspect was able to enter the home of an elderly man and steal a safe and a bank card. The victim has been left deeply shaken by the ordeal.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone with information and would also like to speak to anyone who believes this male may also have called at their address. Man Found Dead On Warrenpoint Beach
Police are investigating the sudden death of a man found on Rostrevor Beach on Thursday morning. The man was discovered by a member of the public around 7:25am on Thursday, October 3rd. His identity remains unknown. The man is believed to be in his 60s. He was not carrying any identification and had no distinctive jewellry, tattoos, or piercings.
