Executive Approves New Victims And Survivors Strategy

A new strategy for victims and survivors of the Troubles/Conflict has been announced by First Minister Michelle O'Neill and deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly.

The strategy, which has received Executive approval, will ensure the right trauma-informed and victim-centred services are in place to empower and support victims and survivors, and contribute to building a shared and peaceful future.

Launching the new strategy, First Minister Michelle O'Neill said: "Meeting the needs of victims and survivors, dealing with the past, and building for the future remain the key issues for those impacted by the Conflict.

"This strategy sets out the outcomes we aim to achieve for victims and survivors over the next 10 years, and the specific issues which require particular focus."

Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly said: "This new strategy aims to build upon the progress we have already made and marks the latest milestone in improving support for victims and survivors.

"It contains a number of commitments and reflects the many factors that impact their needs.

"It also recognises the need for improved collaboration across central and local government, statutory agencies and the voluntary and community sector. By working together, we can ensure victims' and survivors' holistic needs are met."
