Man Arrested In Dundalk After Carjacking In Belfast

A man has been arrested in Dundalk, Ireland, following a carjacking incident in south Belfast on Saturday, September 28th.

The incident began when a vehicle parked in the Botanic Avenue area was stolen with a woman still inside. It is understood that the woman was able to escape the car when it briefly stopped on the Saintfield Road.

The stolen vehicle was then spotted traveling at high speeds on the A1 motorway, prompting police to contact their counterparts in An Garda Síochána. The car was eventually located and stopped in Dundalk, where a 25-year-old man was arrested.

The victim, while shaken by the ordeal, was not physically injured. Police praised the cooperative efforts between the PSNI and An Garda Síochána in recovering the stolen vehicle and apprehending the suspect.

Detective Sergeant McVeagh said: "The victim was not injured but left shaken by her ordeal. Thankfully we are not dealing with any casualties after some very dangerous and reckless behaviour by the suspect involved.

"Excellent cooperative work between ourselves and our colleagues in the An Garda Síochána have ensured this vehicle was recovered and the suspect was arrested."
