Belfast Honours Olympic And Paralympic Heroes
Belfast has celebrated the achievements of its Olympic and Paralympic athletes at a special reception in City Hall. Lord Mayor Councillor Micky Murray hosted the event, bringing together coaches, volunteers, grassroots sports clubs, and former Olympians to commemorate a historic summer for Belfast's medalists and athletes.
Gold medalist Jack McMillan, who contributed to the 4x200m freestyle relay victory, shared his inspiring journey from the swimming pool to the Olympic podium. First-time Olympian Erin Creighton and Damian Kennedy, head boxing coach for Team Ireland, discussed the rigorous preparations involved in getting Belfast athletes ready for the world's largest sporting stage. Paralympian Katie Morrow and equestrian rider Austen Burns, who competed for Canada in the Paralympics but now trains in Belfast, also shared their experiences and excitement about competing at the pinnacle of their respective sports.
The special guests engaged with the audience, answering questions from aspiring young athletes and legendary figures like 1972 Munich gold medalist Lady Mary Peters.

140 Rising Sports Stars Financially Supported To Pursue Career
Some 140 rising stars across 33 different sports have been awarded bursaries and financial awards worth £88,500 by social enterprise GLL to help them pursue their sporting ambitions. The 16th GLL Sport Foundation Awards ceremony at Belfast City Hall honoured the city's best young sports talent.

May Day marathon shapes up to be the biggest yet
Organisers of the 21st Belfast City Marathon are confident that this year's event will be the biggest and the most competitive in recent history. With hundreds of entries flooding into the Belfast City Marathon office, it is anticipated that a record number of competitors will take to the streets of Belfast on Monday May 6.
