Dromore Man Jailed For Attacking Woman With Baseball Bat
A 33-year-old man from Dromore has received a four-and-a-half year sentenced for an assault in which he attacked a woman with a baseball bat.
Glenn Magee was sentenced at Craigavon Crown Court on Tuesday 10th September, to four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment – two years in custody and the remainder on licence. He pleaded to attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charges relate to an assault on a woman in her Riverbank home in the early hours of Sunday, 19th February 2023.
Magee, armed with a baseball bat, entered her home through a patio door and made his way to her bedroom. He then swung the bat in her direction and hit her on the left arm before running out of the house. This was reported to police some two days later and Magee was arrested that same day.
Another assault occurred outside a nursing home in Dunmurry on 18th February 2023. Magee was charged after he reportedly shouted abuse at another male before hitting him a number of times to the face leaving injury.
Detective Inspector Bell said: "Our enquiries into both reports of assault led to the identification of Magee. Today, we see that justice has been done.
"We will work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts so that that victims receive the justice they deserve."

Investigation Launched Following North Belfast Break-In
Police have launched an investigation after a man escaped injury following a break-in at a property in north Belfast. The incident happened at a flat on the Cliftonville Road at around 7.15am on Wednesday, 04 January. A man and woman armed with a baseball bat entered the property and searched all of the rooms. They then fled from the scene.

A special task force has been formed to drive forward the proposals, which will require extensive consultation and support from partners including Derry City Council, ILEX, central government departments and agencies and other interested parties.

Man knocked unconscious during robbery
A man has been knocked unconscious with a baseball bat during a robbery in Newtownabbey. Three masked men forced their way into the house on Fairview Crescent at around 3am yesterday morning. The gang tied up the man after striking him on the head. They covered his eyes and mouth with tape before ransacking the house.

Two men injured in separate baseball bat attacks
Two men have been attacked in similar but separate baseball bat attacks in north Belfast. At around 7.30pm a 36-year-old man was cycling near to Duncairn Gardens when a car pulled up alongside him. Three men wielding baseball bats got out of the car and attacked the victim before driving off towards Duncairn Gardens.
