Man Charged With Murder Of L'Derry Woman
PNSI Major Investigation Team detectives investigating the death of a 65-year-old woman in L'Derry have charged a 28-year-old man with murder, rape and arson.
Montserrat Martorell was found murdered in a property in Harvey Street, that had been set alight in the early hours of Saturday, 24 August.
Police have described an attack leading to Martorell's death as "brutal".
The suspect is expected to appear before Londonderry Magistrates Court today, Thursday 29th August. As is normal procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A 35-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. The victim, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition after being assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. The suspect is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Monday, 17 October.

A man charged with attempted murder has died in custody. 42-year-old James Carlisle, from the Harbour Road in Kilkeel, was due to appear in court next week. It is understood his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Armagh man accused of attempted murder
A 44-year-old Armagh man has appeared in court in connection with two counts of attempted murder. Colm Joseph McGurk, of Lower English Street, appeared before Newry Magistrates’ Court accused of the attempted murder of Patrick and Eisha McGurk on Saturday.

Man due in court charged with attempted murder
A 34-year-old man is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder. The charge relates to an attack on a 50-year-old man in east Belfast, on Tuesday. Police received a report at around 10.30pm on Tuesday night that a man had been seriously assaulted on the Greenville Road in the Beersbridge Road area of the city.
