Man Arrested In Connection With L'Derry Murder

Detectives investigating the "brutal" murder of a woman in L'Derry in the early hours of Saturday, 24 August, have made an arrest.

The PSNI have named the victim as 65-year-old Montserrat Martorell. She was found fatally wounded in a flat in the Harvey Street area, after emergency services responded to reports of a fire at the building.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at Musgrave Serious Crime Suite.

Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Kelly said: "Our investigation is moving at a fast pace, and I continue to appeal to anyone who may have any information to contact detectives on 101 and quote reference 225 24/08/24."

Murder inquiry launched after Markets body find
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered in a flat in the Markets area of Belfast. Neighbours found the body in an upstairs flat in Friendly Place at 7.45am on Monday. Police believe the 38-year-old man had been beaten. Two men have been arrested by detectives and are helping them with their inquiries.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Man Held Under Terrorism Act After Fire Reports
A man has been arrested under the Terrorism Act following a fire in west Belfast in the morning of Wednesday 14 November. Detectives from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit arrested the 35-year-old man following the reported fire at a house on Rodney Drive at around 9.

Police renew murder appeal
Police have renewed their appeal into the murder of a man in Co Down last month. Andrew Cully, a father of two teenage boys from Greyabbey, was shot up to 10 times as he sat in his parked car in the loyalist West Winds estate in Newtownards on 24 March. Detectives want to speak to anyone who saw Mr Cully sitting in his car prior to the shooting.
