Students Across NI Receive GCSE Results

Education Minister Paul Givan has welcomed the success of Northern Ireland's students receiving their GCSE results today.

Today's results, awarded to over 32,000 GCSE students across Northern Ireland, reveal that 82.7% of students received grade C/4 and above while 31% received grade A/7 and above. This year marks the completion of the return to pre-pandemic awarding arrangements.

Praising students on their achievements the Minister said: "Congratulations to all the young people who received their GCSE results today. They have all worked incredibly hard and this has been reflected in the grades they have deservedly achieved.

"Pupils in Northern Ireland have once again performed impressively and have continued to outperform their counterparts in England and Wales. This is testament to their own efforts and the hard work, dedication and commitment of teachers throughout Northern Ireland. I commend all our pupils as they move on to their next stage of education, employment or training."

The Minister added: "Today marks the first step in their future journey. There are many pathways open to students who may be feeling unsure of their next steps. I encourage anyone who wants help to seek advice on the full range of options available to them and take time to consider the many choices on offer."

Northern Ireland pupils are in a class of their own
Northern Ireland students have outperformed their peers in England and Wales in both A-level and the new AS level exams. Figures released by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) on Thursday August 16 show a record 48,000 grades have been issued to Northern Ireland students across all exam boards.

Rise In Number Of GCSE Students Achieving A*- C Grades
There has been a significant increase in the number of GCSE students achieving the A*- C grades. The proportion of entries awarded A* - C grades has risen by 0.7% this year to 78.7% Education Minister, John O'Dowd, congratulated the students and said they should be proud of all their hard work.

GCSE Results Up Slightly In NI, Bucking National Trend
Students across Northern Ireland picked up their GCSE results today. And in contrast to the national trend of grades dipping, the region's 32,000 16-year-olds achieved a slight improvement on last year's results. GCSE results improve again
GCSE students across Northern Ireland were receiving their first batch of results today as it was revealed that grades had improved on last year. Grades from exams set by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA), delivered on Tuesday showed that over 7% of papers had been awarded a grade A Star.
