Man Sentenced For 'Permitting Production Of A Class A Drug'

At Belfast Crown Court a 39-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 months in custody, suspended for two years, for being the occupier of a premises permitting production of a Class A controlled drug.

The conviction of Jonathan Nicholson comes after a proactive Paramilitary Crime Task Force operation, in June 2023, during which a flat in east Belfast was searched and a number of items, including a large quantity of cocaine, were seized.

Welcoming the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Hughes said: "The Paramilitary Crime Task Force is committed to bringing those involved in the supply of drugs before the courts.

"I would appeal to anyone who has information about paramilitary activity, including the supply of illegal drugs, to contact detectives on 101.

A man has been arrested and cannabis worth £40,000 seized after two parcels destined for an address in Northern Ireland were intercepted. Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force made the arrest amid a probe into the activities of the east Belfast UVF.
