Two Men Due In Court On Disorder Charges

Magistrates' Court today, Monday, 12 August, charged in connection with incidents of violent disorder.

A 30-year-old has been charged with intentionally encouraging or assisting riot, publishing written material intended to stir up hatred, sending menacing messages through a public electronic communications network, and possession of fireworks without a licence.

He is due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court today, Monday 12th August.

A 58-year-old has been charged with possessing written material intended or likely to stir up hatred or arouse fear.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court today, Monday 12th August.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Donaldson And Wife Enter Not Guilty Pleas
Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife Eleanor have both pleaded not guilty to a total of 21 charges in their latest appearance at Newry Crown Court today, Tuesday 10 September. The 61-year-old former leader of the DUP, Sir Jeffrey, entered a not guilty plea to all 18 charges, said to have occurred before 1985 and 2008 and involved two alleged victims.

Belfast Woman Convicted Of Animal Cruelty
Belfast City Council has welcomed the conviction of a woman for causing unnecessary suffering to a cat. In June this year, the council received complaints that a cat had been left at the property unattended for a number of days.

Man Bailed Over Sex Offences
A 40-year-old man has appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged in connection with a number of sexual offences. The man faces on charge of rape, two charges of sexual assault and one charge of sexual activity with a child.

45 People Arrested Following Violent Disorder In August
To date, 45 people have been arrested in connection with violent disorder in Belfast in August. Police are continuing to "rigorously pursue" those involved in the disorder and violence and those responsible for attacking people and property.

11 Police Station Enquiry Offices To Close On 01 August
The PSNI have confirmed that 11 police station enquiry offices will permanently close at the end of the month. The closures had been announced in April this year, due to "the current financial and resource pressures facing the Police Service of Northern Ireland", reducing the number of enquiry offices from 28 to 17.
