Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Collision In Drumquin

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in the Drumquin area on the evening of Monday, 29 july.

A man has died in hospital from injuries he sustained in the collision.

Roads Policing Inspector Cherith Adair said: "Officers received a report at approximately 7.50pm on Monday, 29th July of a single-vehicle collision involving a black 2024 Suzuki S-Cross on the Dooish Road.

"Police attended along with colleagues from other emergency services who provided first aid at the scene to a man, aged in his 60s, who was the driver of the vehicle. There were no other passengers.

"The man was subsequently taken to hospital and has since sadly died from his injuries.

"Our investigation is continuing and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision, or who may have dash-cam or mobile footage, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1660 29/07/24."

Swann Condemns Attacks On Health Care Workers

Ulster Unionist MP and former Health Minister, Robin Swann, has condemned recent attacks on health care workers in Ballyclare.

Mr Swann said: "One of the main issues continually raised with me is access to healthcare, so any attack on those who work in it, I see as an attack on the very fabric of our society. "To attack our health workers is to attack our friends and family who are on a waiting list, who are waiting on a care package. This mindless thuggery is an attack on us all and those who are behind it need to be held to account."

'Disgraceful' MI5 Withheld Information From Kenova Inquiry – SF

Sinn Féin have described it as "disgraceful" that the British security service MI5 withheld hundreds of pages of information from the Kenova Inquiry into the activities of British agents.

Adding that any further delay in the publication of the findings of the Kenova investigation would add to the trauma and the anguish of families who have waited for truth for decades, MP John Finucane , said: "News that MI5 withheld hundreds of pages of information from the team of detectives involved in the Kenova Inquiry into the activities of British agents is disgraceful and unsurprising.

"As the British government's shameful Legacy Act was enacted to close down families' access to the civil and criminal courts, British intelligence services have delayed the release of information to families who have waited for the truth for decades.

"The discovery that MI5 did not disclose vital information to the Kenova Inquiry may now further delay the publication of the full report into the investigation.

"This revelation will add to the trauma and the anguish of families of the victims, and I am calling on the investigation to process the new information as thoroughly and as quickly as possible.

"It is yet another example that agencies such as MI5 cannot be trusted to self-regulate when it comes to being candid on disclosure or participating in a legacy process without strict independent oversight to verify the accuracy of their actions."
