Man Charged After Disturbance At Newtownabbey Business

A man has been charged to court after a disturbance at a business in Newtownabbey.

On Sunday 28 July, shortly after 10am, police received a report of a man being abusive towards and throwing items at staff at a shop in the Abbott's Cross area.

Police attended, during which an officer was assaulted and taken to the hospital for treatment for an injury to their hand. The 36-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage, theft and assault on police.

He has since been charged with a number of offences including grievous bodily harm, common assault and assault on police and is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrate's Court on Monday 26 August.

As per standard procedure, the Public Prosecution Service reviewed all charges.

Man due in court charged with attempted murder
A 34-year-old man is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder. The charge relates to an attack on a 50-year-old man in east Belfast, on Tuesday. Police received a report at around 10.30pm on Tuesday night that a man had been seriously assaulted on the Greenville Road in the Beersbridge Road area of the city.

Man Charged With Murder Of Mark Lamont
A man has been charged with murder after a man died from his injuries following an attack in Coleraine. Mark Lamont, 54, was critically injured after being assaulted outside a house on the Ballycastle Road in September. He died in hospital on Tuesday, 12 October. The suspect is to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 13 October.
