Woman Arrested On Hungarian Extradition Warrant For Thefts
A 59-year-old woman has been arrested on an extradition warrant issued by Hungary for seven theft offences.
The woman is due to appear before an extradition court today, 26 July, for the offences which are alleged to have taken place in the Budapest area in 2020 and 2021.
Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said: "This arrest is good example of our continued work to locate and arrest those wanted internationally. On this occasion we worked with the National Crime Agency and Hungarian authorities to track the wanted person down to an address in north Belfast, where the woman was arrested this morning by officers from C Section, Tennent Street Local Policing Team.
"The Police Service of Northern Ireland continues to work with our national and international partners to locate and arrest those sought for extradition.
"Our message is clear that there is nowhere to hide in Northern Ireland, and that we will actively pursue all wanted persons believed to be in this jurisdiction."
The woman is due to appear before an extradition court today, 26 July, for the offences which are alleged to have taken place in the Budapest area in 2020 and 2021.

Belfast City Centre Booms In Summer
Belfast city centre enjoyed a successful summer season, with a surge in visitor numbers, footfall, and dwell time compared to the previous year. An estimated 133,490 visitors traveled to the city centre during July 2024, a 39% increase from the year before. Footfall rose by 24.1%, with retail core foot traffic increasing by 1.6%.

Man Wanted In NI Arrested In Dublin
A 60-year-old man wanted in Northern Ireland for being unlawfully at large from prison has been arrested in Dublin. An Garda Siochana arrested the man on an extradition warrant from the PSNI, who sought the man in connection with a murder conviction from 1990.

Man Charged In Possession Of Heroin
A man is to appear in court charged in possession of heroin. Police arrested five people during searches of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 16 January. Two men have also been charged in possession of a Class A drug. A 50-year-old woman has also been charged with permitting premises to be used for the supply of a Class A drug.
