Man Arrested In Connection With West Belfast Arson
A man, aged in his 40s, has been arrested this morning, Wednesday 24 July, in connection with an arson at a west Belfast charity.
Shortly after midnight on Tuesday 23 July, a suspected stolen Volkswagen Golf was reversed into the shutters of the building in the Townsend Street area before being set alight. The fire caused significant damage to the inside and outside of this section of the building.
Police investigating the incident arrested the man this morning in the west Belfast area on suspicion of arson and related offences.
He remains in custody at this time assisting officers with their enquiries as the investigation continues.
West Belfast Neighbourhood Inspector Róisín Brown said: "Anyone who can help with our ongoing enquiries is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 19 23/07/24.
"We also wish to hear from anyone who would have any dash-cam or CCTV footage of the Townsend Road area and noticed anything suspicious, to make contact with police."

Four Men Arrested Over Explosive Device In West Belfast Released
Four men arrested in connection with an explosive device in west Belfast last year have been released from custody. The device was found in the Pantridge Road area on 30 October. Three men arrested under the Terrorism Act have been released unconditionally.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a police car chase in west Belfast. The PSNI saw a red Volkswagen driving in the Beechmount area with no lights on. They signalled for the vehicle to stop, however a pursuit commenced onto the Falls Road where it was stung by other officers from the auto crime team.

Man Arrested After Police Seize Drugs In West Belfast
A man has been arrested after drugs were discovered in a car by police in west Belfast. PSNI officers stopped and searched a black Seat Ibiza car on Craven Street, at around 4.30pm on Monday, 06 March. A further search was carried out in the Crosby Street area and small quantity of suspected cocaine and herbal cannabis were seized.

Man Escapes Injury In West Belfast Arson
A man has escaped injury after a wheelie bin was set alight and placed at the door of his house in west Belfast. Police said the arson attack took place in Aitnamona Crescent at around 7.20am on Friday 01 November. Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze which had caused damage to the front door and smoke damage to the inside of the house.
